There is something special about walking into a well-designed home. From the exterior architecture, to the flow of the floor plan all the way down to the pictures on the wall—they all work together to create the ambiance of the home. But did you know that even the model homes in Daybreak are decorated on a budget? There is no reason why you can’t make your new Daybreak home sparkle just like the model did when you first fell in love. Here are a few basic interior design tips & tricks that you will see featured in many of the model homes in Daybreak:
Incorporate Fresh Flowers or Plants
Whether you have a green thumb or not, adding fresh flowers or plants to your home is a great way to incorporate an organic vibe. There are high-quality faux flowers and plants available, but if you are up for it, we recommend taking a leap of faith and incorporating live plants into your home. You can tell the difference and honestly as long as you remember to water the plants regularly, they are pretty self-sufficient.
Some of our favorites are succulents and fiddle-leaf fig trees.
Create Your Own Art
Group several beautiful frames together to create a statement art piece in your home. Save yourself some money, by going to a thrift store to find frames. You can easily spray paint the frames to match your interior color scheme. Next pick out decorative paper, wallpaper or even your favorite artwork created by your children and simply add it to the frames.
Stack Your Books
We all have books laying around. Why not use them in your décor. Create visual interest by stacking books horizontally, vertically and even at an angle. We love how the designers at Alice Lane Home Collection used books while decorating the Lake Loft home during the Parade of Homes last Summer.
To make the books look monochromatic, like they do in the picture above, simply create book covers using your favorite color wrapping paper.
Add a Pop of Color
A simple pop of color can go a long way. Arrange citrus fruits like lemons, limes and oranges on a platter or in a bowl to brighten your countertop or table. They have a long shelf-life and as a bonus you can use them along the way.
