If there is a single feature that Daybreak is known for, it’s Oquirrh Lake. And we have to say, it’s amazing—a big lake with beaches, shoreline trails, and an island neighborhood in the middle. But you know what? The Watercourse may be even more special. It’s a network of waterways that wind through Daybreak’s Upper Villages and opened for water recreation on Memorial Day weekend, 2024. We’re talking about a mile-long series of channels, cascades, and ponds. A place where, on a whim, you can take your paddleboard or kayak on a sunset paddle. Narrow and meandering so that more homes can be close to it, with waterside trails and parks. If that isn’t enough to excite you, a new community gathering place with additional amenities will soon open on The Watercourse’s shores. Introducing the Cove House.
Designed to foster a deep connection to nature through thoughtful architecture and design, the Cove House will anchor Daybreak’s Upper Villages, providing the community with a place to gather, relax, or explore along the shores of The Watercourse. The Cove House isn’t one thing: it’s a multi-purpose space with an indoor/outdoor community living room, a new Daybreak Info Studio, a watercraft checkout, and various ancillary outdoor amenities. Let’s take a quick tour!
The Cove House
Community Living Room
Daybreak residents will love gathering in the new community living room on the Cove House’s ground floor. Whether you want to read a good book, chat by the fireplace, or simply lounge while the kiddos play at Lookout Park, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this space.
Swig
Soda lovers rejoice: the Cove House will be home to its very own Swig, which means Dirty Sodas™, Refreshers, Revivers, and delicious cookies will be waiting for you before you take a tour. Or after. But why not both?
Waterside Amphitheater
Summer serenades and neighborhood talent shows are possibilities at the waterside amphitheater. This space allows our neighborhood community council, LiveDAYBREAK, to program various outdoor events and performances. Residents will love the terraced lawn, calming views of the Wasatch Mountains, or just sitting and looking out at the water.
The Bosque
Situated in a grove of trees, the bosque area offers an intimate spot to relax by an outdoor firepit or bring a board game to play at one of the café tables.
Lawn Games
Here, you’ll find a fun spot to challenge your neighbor to a game of ping pong or cornhole. There will be three of each available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Boat House
Residents can borrow a kayak or paddleboard from Daybreak’s Harbor Master at the watercraft checkout. Rentals are available from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. For the 2024 season, residents will check out watercraft from a temporary location near Prosperity Road and Somera Drive. Or, with the proper permit, residents can bring their own watercraft and launch it into The Watercourse.
The new outdoor amenities and the Cove House are under construction now and are anticipated to open fall 2024.
The Cove House is located at: 6650 W. Lake Avenue, South Jordan, Utah 84043.
The Art of Placemaking
If Daybreak feels different from other places, it’s because we see every decision as an opportunity to enrich people’s lives. To create something so beautiful, so smart, or so beautiful and smart that it actually changes your day for the better.
Now, over two decades in and with Larry H. Miller Real Estate at the helm, Daybreak is delivering on its vision and promise like never before. Adding dozens of new Daybreak amenities, embarking on Downtown Daybreak and bringing so much more to life as we speak. In short, Daybreak is a story that just gets better with every chapter.
