This is not the library you remember. Instead, the Daybreak Branch blends books with tools, art, and community spaces. As a result, you can learn, create, and gather—all under one roof.

Why this branch is different
Over the past decade, public libraries have changed. Even so, the mission remains the same: connect people with resources. Today, the Daybreak Branch also works as a community hub, a co‑working space, and a bridge over the digital divide. And yes, there are still plenty of books plus a lively children’s story time area.
Creative spaces
Create Workshop
First, visit the maker space. Here, you can try 3D printers, explore virtual reality, test design tools, and even use a bicycle repair shop. Classes teach you how to use each tool. Because demand changes, tools and classes may rotate over time.
Create AV Lab
Next, step into the AV Lab. You’ll find easy‑to‑use equipment for podcasts, videos, and music recordings.
Gathering spaces
Community Living Room
Settle into a comfy chair and co‑work, study, or simply relax. This space invites conversation and creativity.
Community Café
Yes, you can eat here. Bring a snack or drink and meet up with friends. Note: there is no food vendor inside the library.
Meeting & study rooms
For events and teamwork, the branch offers a large meeting room that seats up to 72 people, a conference room, and four study rooms.
Art, gallery & rooftop terrace
Then, explore the rotating art gallery with exhibits from the Salt Lake County Library system. After that, head up to the roof terrace—the system’s first open‑access rooftop garden—made for programs and quiet views of Daybreak. Outside, the plaza displays an installation by artist James Brenner.
