What's Happening

Bam Peck knows a thing or two about running a good Sports Grill. He cut his teeth as a bartender back in 1996 at The Point After. After developing a passion for the business he decided to buy the popular Murray establishment in 2004 which he later sold in 2009. After a stint doing other things, he’s ready to get back into the business, and he along with partner Brian Block are the new owners of The Break Sports Grill at Daybreak’s SoDa Row Village Center.
Bam has lived in Daybreak for several years, and when he decided to get back into the business, his first choice of where to open up shop was obvious. “We’re very involved in community and charity work, and we didn’t want to just open a business, but be a part of the community,” he said. “I think this is one of the neatest places in Salt Lake to live. There’s always people outside doing something, hanging out at the park or running on the trails, and we love coming down to SoDa Row in the evenings and listening to live music, you just don’t find that atmosphere in a lot of places.”
As it turns out, The Break plans to add their own musical touch to SoDa Row, with live music on tap inside The Break during the colder months when bands aren’t playing outside on the Plaza. In addition to a steady dose of blues and rock favorites, The Break will serve up 8 draft beers and 25-30 domestic bottled beers to go with one of the best bar food menus in town. Johnny B, a self proclaimed Sauce Master and graduate of the Cordon Bleu Cullinary School in Las Vegas who has cooked for the likes of Sammy Hagar and other celebrities will be the head chef and puts a tangy twist on sports grill favorites along with some of his own creations.
The Break will feature an upper mezzanine level with pool tables, shuffle board, and flat screen TV’s showing all the big games which can be reserved for private parties and celebrations.
The Break will officially open it’s doors on February 3rd (yes, just in time for the SuperBowl on Sunday the 5th) and will have it’s grand opening event the weekend of February 10th with live music and appetizer specials.
