What's Happening

Today, University of Utah Health Care and Kennecott Land (a Rio Tinto company) broke ground on a 208,000‑square‑foot specialty center in South Jordan’s Daybreak community. The project expands convenient, high‑quality care for South Valley residents.

What the New Center Will Offer

The first phase delivers a broad mix of care. Patients will have access to primary care and an extensive lineup of specialties. In addition, the plan includes a 24/7 emergency department and an on‑site outpatient pharmacy for same‑day prescriptions.

  • Primary care: Family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics
  • Specialty care: Cardiology, dermatology, ENT, gastroenterology, neurology, OB/GYN, oncology, optometry, orthopedics, physical therapy, psychiatry, radiology, and same‑day surgery
  • Pharmacy: On‑site outpatient pharmacy for convenient pickup
  • Emergency: Round‑the‑clock emergency department

Location & Transit Access

The specialty center rises in South Station Village, adjacent to the South TRAX Station (Mid‑Jordan line). Staff and patients can ride TRAX from the main University campus directly to Daybreak and then walk across the street to the clinic.

Timeline & Interim Care

Construction begins immediately following the groundbreaking. Meanwhile, a temporary clinic will open near SoDa Row Village Center in late August 2010, providing primary and specialty care during construction. The permanent facility targets completion in fall 2011.
