Community News & Events
Junior Achievement City (JA City) hosts more than 19,000 5th– and 8th-grade students each year and features 20+ storefronts sponsored by local businesses. Inside this 10,000‑square‑foot learning center, students run banks, manage restaurants, vote for a JA City mayor, create budgets, and practice managing both business and personal finances. As a result, JA City helps students build 21st‑century skills—including critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, problem‑solving, and communication.
To support this hands‑on learning, the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation has sponsored a storefront in JA City for many years. This year, that storefront received a thoughtful refresh.

The newly renovated Larry H. Miller Communities storefront showcases a Daybreak home sales environment—complete with a Destination Homes agent representation—so students can see how homeownership and community come together. Larry H. Miller Communities builds places to live, work, and play; likewise, we’re proud to help Utah students learn, grow, and envision their future while building a strong sense of community.

Why This Partnership Matters
- Real‑world practice: Students simulate jobs, banking, voting, and budgeting in a safe, guided environment.
- Career exploration: Storefronts—like Daybreak’s—introduce roles in real estate, sales, and customer service.
- Community connection: The storefront emphasizes how neighborhoods thrive when people engage with local businesses and schools.
