What's Happening

When you have a diverse collection of homes in a community like Daybreak, it attracts a diverse group of interesting people. One such interesting person is Dawn Meehan, this season’s star of the popular TV show, Survivor.
Dawn is a mother to six children (all adopted!), she is 41-years-old and probably the only competitor on Survivor who lists “baking bread” as one of her hobbies. We take this as evidence that it is possible to survive in wilderness AND thrive in the unpredictable territory of domesticity.

As a huge fan of the show over the years, Dawn decided she didn’t just want to watch it from the sidelines. After winning an audition to be on the second season, she finally appeared on season 23, Survivor South Pacific. When she got voted off, the thought of getting another chance to win began to consumer her. Finally, she was invited back to compete in season 26 for another chance to win a million dollars.
Let’s show Dawn some love! Don’t forget to tune in to CBS on Wednesdays ( through May 12th) at 7pm, to cheer Dawn on and VOTE FOR HER!

Even though she doesn’t think of herself as an emotional person, Dawn said she cried a lot last season. The extremes of the show, from starving to sleep deprivation, took a toll and she broke down in tears every day.
Dawn is competitive, which means when it comes to any game, she likes to win – even if it’s at the cost of someone else. This shouldn’t be confused with being mean though; Dawn actually is known for her reputation for being very nice. Still, don’t let that nice person exterior fool you; she is always plotting to win.
And this time, she’s taking extra precautions. Dawn plans on showing a tougher, more calculating side on the show, and is going to put on an additional six pounds before the start, so she has some extra body fat to sacrifice.
Dawn moved to Daybreak nine years ago with her husband to take jobs in the area. She works as an English professor at Brigham Young University, while her husband works at Adobe.
We caught up with Dawn recently to ask her what she loves most about living in Daybreak. She responded enthusiastically: “We love, love, love the community, the trails, the lake, and SoDa Row!! Everything about living here is incredible. We are so glad to be part of the Daybreak Community!”
Where can you catch Dawn when she’s not training? Feeding the ducks at the lake, swimming at the pool, and using the gym! [Yeah, we weren’t surprised about that last one either.]
