What's Happening

On July 17, 2016, residents were notified that the Daybreak [Secondary] Water Company was temporarily shutting down the secondary irrigation system servicing the parks/common areas and community gardens. This precautionary measure was necessary because of a recently discovered algae bloom at the water’s source, Utah Lake. Based on information received from local officials this morning, the shutdown will continue indefinitely until further information on potential impacts is available. This action does not impact single family homes, townhomes and condominium landscaping, as they are all connected to culinary water.
It is understandable that without irrigation water, the community parks and open space landscaping will begin to suffer in the daily heat. This will cause stress on trees and browning of turf. We are currently working with South Jordan City to utilize a culinary source provided by them. This source will be operational today. It is important to note that the Association will only be able to pull a limited amount of water from this connection as the Daybreak Water Company will be utilizing it for all of its users within Daybreak including the LDS Church, the City and the Jordan School District. The Association will be utilizing our water allotment as efficiently and effectively as possible to help sustain newly installed landscaping and maintain established vegetation in critical areas; however, this reduced level of watering will result in browning of most turf areas. We appreciate your understanding and will certainly keep you posted on our progress.
As a reminder, Oquirrh Lake is a significant element of the community’s secondary water system and utilizes Utah Lake water resources. As posted, all water-related recreation activities on Oquirrh Lake, such as boating and fishing, are also suspended until further notice.
As general information, the following common areas are serviced by culinary and will be watering normally:
* Boulder Park 10520 South Ojibwa Lane
* Secret Garden Park 4190 West Dardanelle Drive
* Garden Corner Park 4181 West Blackshear Drive
* Eastlake Pool grass/bed areas (pool area only) 10761 Indigo Sky Way
* Current Park – green space 5044 W Currant Drive
* Waterside Club beds 10582 S. Serendipity Way
* Multiple green courts and paseos (mostly Founders & Eastlake)
