Volunteer projects (2021)

1) Jordan River Trail cleanup

Because the Jordan River Parkway sees heavy use, the trail and riverbanks sometimes need extra care. Volunteers walked sections of the trail to pick up trash and pull weedsTime: 11:00 AM–1:00 PM.

2) Bingham Creek drainage cleanup

Wind can blow paper and plastic from the nearby landfill into the drainage. Teams collected litter on the north side of the Trans‑Jordan Landfill to improve the view and keep debris from washing downstream. Time: 9:00–11:00 AM.

3) Storm drain cleanup

Crews swept and cleared debris from storm drain grates to help water flow. Volunteers also shared info about South Jordan’s “Adopt a Storm Drain” initiative. Time: 9:00–11:00 AM.

What to bring

  • Work gloves (and grabbers/buckets for trail or creek cleanup)
  • Shovel and broom (for storm‑drain grates)
  • Closed‑toe shoes, sun protection, and water

Supplies: South Jordan City provided trash bags for the projects.

How to sign up

Organizers routed volunteers through JustServe.org. On event day, each project had a dedicated sign‑up page to manage headcount and send reminders.
