Finding Home in Daybreak – A Serendipitous Discovery

For more than six years, Kathy Vincent has called Daybreak home. She and her husband, Jim, lived in South Jordan from 2008 to 2015, but didn’t choose Daybreak then—at the time they preferred larger yards and the community was still developing. Work took them to Dallas from 2015 to 2018. When they returned to the Salt Lake Valley, Daybreak finally felt like the perfect fit.

Their interest in Daybreak started years earlier. While living nearby, Kathy walked her dog through the community and watched her son’s soccer practices close by. The amenities and overall charm stuck with her. During a tight housing market, they nearly bought in Highland Park Village, but hesitated, unsure how the new village would feel.

Ultimately, they chose a home that offered main floor living, close proximity to green spaces, and stunning views of Oqquirh Lake in Heights Park Village.

Loving the Lifestyle

What Kathy loves most is the constant chance to get involved. Events, clubs, and recreation make every day feel like a staycation. Concerns she once had about living in an HOA have since turned into appreciation for the organization that keeps Daybreak beautiful and vibrant.

Her favorite amenity is Oquirrh Lake. She walks and bikes around it and enjoys kayaking on the water. It’s a daily backdrop she’s always excited to share with friends and neighbors.

Working in Daybreak

Kathy not only lives in Daybreak—she works here, too. She serves as a front desk receptionist at Sagewood, a retirement community in Daybreak, and it’s a role she loves to talk about.

Sagewood offers three levels of living—independent living, assisted living, and memory care—making it a great fit for people at many stages of retirement. Kathy praises her team for the work they do to improve residents’ quality of life, and she credits the residents themselves for keeping every day fun.

Family and Community Connections

Daybreak brings joy to Kathy’s whole family. Although her children have moved to California, the community is an easy place to gather and make memories when they visit. They especially enjoy local events, with the concert series being a family favorite. Kathy appreciates the convenient location that offers easy access to everything she needs, including North Shore Village (with both commercial and residential spaces), the library near Downtown Daybreak, and nearby emergency services.

Looking ahead, Kathy is excited for the expansion of Downtown Daybreak, Phase 1 of which opened in Spring 2025, bringing a new ballpark, entertainment cinema, and ice-skating rink to the community.

An Everyday Staycation

Kathy describes life in Daybreak as “an everyday staycation,” which sums up the community’s spirit perfectly. As she keeps exploring and enjoying everything nearby, one thing is clear: Daybreak holds a special place in her heart.
