Neighbors Upgrade Man’s Wheelchair with Speakers and LED Lights
When the speakers on a Daybreak resident’s wheelchair went quiet, neighbors noticed—and immediately stepped in to help. Tony Brewster, 30, has cerebral palsy and has lived in the Daybreak community for a decade. For years, he played music on his daily walks with his miniature pinscher. However, when his wheelchair speakers wore out, the soundtrack stopped.
Neighbors Rally to Help
That’s when the neighborhood jumped into action. As Tony put it, “I guess people in my subdivision noticed my music wasn’t blaring, so they asked me if they could take my wheelchair for about a week to pimp it out.”
Over the next few days, neighbors and local businesses collaborated to refresh the chair with Crystal Clear speakers, red rims, white mud flaps, and a brilliant blue LED undercarriage.
“Words can’t even describe how I feel. All I can say is this is exactly how a community should be!” — Tony Brewster
The Team Behind the Upgrade
“I just fell in love with Tony. We became buds,” said Bam Peck, who arranged the project. Tony also thanked Brain from the Salt Lake Heat and Allen from California Audio for their hands‑on help with the audio.
After the big reveal, there were smiles all around. “Oh, it got me. When we brought that chair out, the smile on his face was enough,” Peck said. “It was beautiful.”
