While our spring season has started off a little wet, sunshine will be back in the forecast soon. Which means it is a great time to get out and explore all of the awesomeness in the neighborhood! In Daybreak the ideas for outdoor adventure are unlimited, but we’ve narrowed down a few of our favorites.
Hit the trails
How about hitting more than 30 miles of trails? With paths that take you around Oquirrh Lake and even out to the ridge to watch the sunrise over the valley, your morning run never has to take the same path twice.
If you are training for an upcoming 5K the Oquirrh Lake Loop (3.4 miles) is a perfect fit. Start at the North Bay of Oquirrh Lake temporary parking lot (located at the intersection of South Jordan Parkway & Lake Avenue) to access the trail that loops around the lake.
And our trails aren’t just for runners, you can bike, roller blade or skip if you feel the desire.
Go Fish
While cleaning out the garage for the upcoming Community Yard Sale (May 14) you may find your long lost fishing pole which is the perfect excuse to spend a warm spring day out by Oquirrrh Lake. The lake itself covers 60 acres of fresh water and is filled with Channel Cat Fish, Small Mouth Bass, Bluegill, and Flat Head Minnows. Fishing locations are marked with signage at the lake.
Dine Alfresco
What better way to enjoy the warmer weather than be eating outdoors? Daybreak offers several outdoor dining options with outdoor patios.
Porch-A classic take on Southern recipes with a fresh twist. Offers craft cocktails, boutique wines and heaps of hospitality.
The Break-While this restaurant is known to be a haven among sports fans, it also serves up delicious food. Such as the best mac-n-cheese on the planet. Or how about a turkey cranberry sandwich? Or a sweet chili shrimp rice bow?
Swirly Girls-Cupcakes, dessert bars, cookies, and ice cream cones are the perfect sweet treat to grab and eat outside of the bakery.
Or maybe you want to pack a picnic and enjoy it in our neighborhood parks. Picnic areas are located throughout the community for our residents to enjoy.
Parks
As of 2015, Daybreak offers 55 parks including 9 community parks, 30 neighborhood parks and 69 pocket parks. There are more than 115 acres of open space and that number will continue to grow as Daybreak expands. We are in the process of updating our map highlighting where all of the parks are located, but you can stop by one of the information centers, there are high-level maps that indicate some of the bigger parks.
Parks in Daybreak offer a broad array of outdoor recreation options: soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, volleyball nets, an outdoor amphitheater, climbing structures, swing-sets and even zip-lines.
One of the most popular parks right now in the neighborhood is Brookside Park, which is perfect for swimming, rock-scrambling, creek-wading or zip-lining.
