What's Happening

Rugged biking trails and untold adventures are just one part of the narrative for the 160-acre Bingham Creek Regional Park (formerly Welby Park) adjacent to the northern border of Daybreak. At completion, Bingham Creek Regional Park will be the largest park in Salt Lake County and will serve as a vital resource for recreation in the southwest quadrant of the Salt Lake Valley.

While the final build-out will take several years, the first 65-acres are complete.

Phase 1:

  • Playground
  • Six multi-purpose fields
  • Bike trails (two miles)
  • Pump track for mountain bikes
  • Walking paths (three miles)
  • Pavilion (96-120 capacity)
  • Half-mile extension to Bingham Creek Trail
  • Seating, restrooms and drinking fountains
  • Parking (approximately 625 stalls)

Phase 2:

  • Disc golf course (anticipated 2024)
  • Splash pad
  • Courts for pickleball/tennis
  • Playground with interactive elements

Phase 2 amenities are anticipated as funding becomes available.

Bingham Creek Regional Park Authority Board

An independent government agency was established in 2020 through an Interlocal Agreement between Salt Lake County and South Jordan City to form the Bingham Creek Regional Park Authority. This Board is comprised of five residents and one employee from Salt Lake County and one employee from South Jordan City. The park is owned and operated by the Bingham Creek Regional Park Authority. Park maintenance will be performed by Salt Lake County Parks division with ongoing funding coming from Salt Lake County and South Jordan City.

According to the South Jordan City newsletter, “Bingham Creek Regional Park will be the largest park in Salt Lake County when it is complete and will be a unique generational gathering place, a recreational area, and trail hub in our community.”

Phase 1 Grand Opening Event

Phase 1 opens June 22, 2023, with a ribbon cutting ceremony and general public celebration.
