What's Happening

Empty nesters Kara and David searched the country for a home base that matched their active life. They chose Daybreak—where trails, water, shops, and transit sit close to home.

Residents

After 43 years of marriage15 moves, and life in nine states, Kara and David knew what mattered. They wanted a walkable neighborhood, lock‑and‑leave convenience, and easy access to the outdoors. Their real‑estate agent suggested Daybreak. It checked every box.

They raised two children on Salt Lake’s east bench. Now they prefer a place that keeps them near nature yet connected to the city. Daybreak delivers. The mix of trailsparksOquirrh Lake, and the Watercourse sets them up for daily rides and weekend adventures—often without leaving the neighborhood.

“I’m passionate about being able to live and recreate in an area that provides a multitude of opportunities that are close and easy to access,” Kara says. “Daybreak is the perfect place to enjoy fun on the water, easy access to road biking without having to share the road with cars, close proximity to the best skiing in the United States, and close proximity to an international airport that allows me to travel to wherever my adventures take me.”

Since moving to Daybreak in 2016, they have watched the community grow. New amenities and businesses make daily life even easier. One favorite stands out: Harmons Market opened within a quick bike ride, so Kara can grab last‑minute ingredients in minutes.

“I’ve seen many more homes of all shapes and sizes being built throughout the community since we moved in,” she adds. “I find myself leaving Daybreak less and less because everything I need is literally right out my back door.”

Daybreak Concierge

Originally from South Carolina, Kara brings a natural warmth to everyone she meets. After retiring from a career at REI, she looked for a way to share her enthusiasm for Daybreak with prospective residents. That led her to the Daybreak Information Studio, where she now works welcoming visitors, answering questions, and pointing people toward model homes and amenities.

“I think the fact that I have lived in so many places helps me better relate to a variety of people looking to make Daybreak their home,” Kara says. “I love the diversity of the people I meet.”

You can often find Kara at The Cove House Information Studio, happily swapping trail tips, recommending neighborhoods, and helping future neighbors get a feel for Daybreak life.
