Kennecott Land is the developer of Daybreak, sister company of Kennecott Utah Copper and part of the global Rio Tinto family. Our connection to the Salt Lake Valley goes back over a century. Our mission at Kennecott Land is to take our corporate land holdings along the Oquirrh Mountain Range (otherwise known as the West Bench) and, over time, transform them into exemplary communities of enduring value. Daybreak is our first.

We’re taking the whole idea of community-building to a new level. And we’ve learned that this is not something that any single company can do by itself. We’ve engaged the brightest, most forward-looking experts we could find to help with everything from the overarching community plan to the selection of fish species for Oquirrh Lake. And we would be nowhere without the help of our homebuilders, who took our vision for Daybreak and turned it into a life-enriching reality for thousands of residents.
