Offices, shops and restaurants ... Daybreak-style
Our first 45-acre Village Center is planned to open in in the near future. We're calling it SoDa Row (that's “SoDa,” as in “South Daybreak”), and like the homes and parks and everything else here, it will have that special Daybreak flavor.
SoDa Row will be walking or easy biking distance from any home in Daybreak. It's simply part of the neighborhood mix. This “mixed use” concept – akin to the bustling town squares of the past – is good for people and the environment, too. Having all these shops, services and offices at hand means more time for pushing kids in the stroller to go get ice cream. Or hanging out in a cafe overlooking a beautiful lake. Which also means fewer greenhouse gas emissions from all the driving you're not doing.
And this isn't the only sustainable aspect of SoDa Row. The overall village is being designed and built utilizing LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) principles that will dramatically reduce energy consumption and support a healthier environment.
As with the homes in Daybreak, SoDa Row's architecture is inspired by a variety of local, historical influences. You'll see distressed and rusted metals, natural woods, unworked stone and a range of other interesting materials. And each building will be different, giving SoDa Row the feel of a funky neighborhood retail district that grew up over time.
In a few years, you'll see our next retail area, Rubicon Road, open for business. Tucked into Daybreak's third village, North Shore, it will be even more neighborhood-y than SoDa Row. So if you live in North Shore, you can look forward to having perhaps a cafe or pizza place or dry cleaner just few steps from your front door.
