Spin Bike Girl Cropped

Tennis anyone? Or swimming? Yoga? Art class? Chit chat?

You often see them called “recreation centers.” But to our way of thinking, the real value of these kinds of facilities is in how they become a center — a magnet, really — that draws the community together.

Daybreak’s first community center is a dandy. It has a full gym, indoor track, cardio and weight equipment, and spaces for a range of classes, from yoga to photography. Even better, it’s attached to Daybreak Elementary. So you can walk the kids to school, then head straight into your spinning class. The kids, on the other hand, can go right from school to ballet by simply walking down a hallway.

But don’t be too hard on yourself if you miss a fitness class because you bumped into a friend and ended up heading over to SoDa Row for coffee. That’s healthy, too.
